Like all
there is a story behind my buggy. It all started when I decided to upgrade my
4wd. I sold off my trusty MQ Nissan Patrol. After the sale I tried to find a
replacement vehicle with no luck. As Christmas approach and the annual beach
trip grew closer I accepted the loan of a SWB cruiser to get away for the
week. Anyway since the guy I was going with also happened to be the President of
the Bad little Bug-gers V-Dub Club the trip coincided
with Beach Run 2001 .
Well on the Friday as we sat on the beach enjoying the serenity Andrew and Eileen from the club showed up in their Manx and before long Mike Sharp from Sharpbuilt showed up in his GS Limo ( LWB Beach Buggy) ( He had a few technical problems but I won't spoil the story) As we got talking and my boyish urges took over I couldn't resist the offer of a ride. After we got further up a sandy track than my patrol had done in the past I was hooked.
As luck would have it Mike had his old buggy for sale and after considering my options over the next week a deal was struck. Then before I knew it Brad had picked it up and the shell was sitting in my drive way. Then the research began. With Brad on the case a pan was soon sourced and the build began. The details are below for the build.
