Rhys Meyers Manx Buggy |
|

How it started
This Meyers Manx buggy is going to get a full
rebuild and a lighten up. It will be a street buggy with the emphasis being on
light is better and with some luck the means will justify the ends and Rhys will
end up with one quick little Meyers Manx buggy.
The plans so far consist of getting it on the
road then adding things such as a 1916 engine with 40mm DRLA Dellorto carbies
and a turbo..... Fresh from a stay in England Rhys has all sorts of ideas dreamt
up for this little baby so stay tuned and pictures and details will follow.

The pan is about a 1970 model with ball joint front end and
swing axle rear. Just the way he wanted it. Drum brakes all round and as
light as possible. The floor halves have been removed and new ones made of
1.2mm sheet metal welded in. This will give some flex so braces will be
added to the floor that will hold the seats and stop the flex in the
floor. |

As you can see the original weld left some what to be
desired. This will be improved on and some compensation plates added. The
pans are notorious for cracking at the welds and also around the handbrakes.
This is usually because or crappy workman ship in the first place.
