History Floor Pan Engine Suspension / Brakes

History

This Meyers Manx Buggy was bought in October 2002. It was purchased as the Mega Manx was not going to be ready for the Fraser Island Trip and I really wanted to take a buggy.

I came across it by accident. I was actually chasing some kombi parts and the guy I was getting them off just happened to have a Manx he wanted to sell. I will be the first to admit that I got ripped when I bought it. Mainly because I believed what the owner was telling me and also  because I really wanted one.

The buggy itself has some good parts. It did ,however, need a entirely new floor pan, tunnel, gearbox, front tyres, brakes and engine. It did have papers though and current QLD rego. Now it is all fixed it doesn't seem so bad but at the time I was pretty pissed.

When I got the buggy it was on an IRS / King pin with Disc brake front. 1500sp engine, 2" lift kit and 15 x 7" mag wheels. The seats where ok and it had an approved roll bar and compliance plate. The windscreen was cracked and the gearbox had no reverse gear.

Anyway it made the Fraser Trip and followed up with a Double Island Trip in January. This was the end of it though. I hit a wash out at  speed and the rear forks broke as did the tunnel. It seems having no metal left without rust had finally taken its toll.

So the rebuild began .....
