The rear trailing arms are from a type 3 wagon. These were
chosen as they have an extra bolt hole that works well with the twin
spring plates. The shock canisters have been modified. This has been done
to get the maximum ground clearance possible and to limit the chances of
them becoming hung up on obstacles. This modification is done to allow the
stock shocks to still be used and not limit wheel travel in any way. |
 |
You can see the difference in clearance from the rear.
Basically you get the stock canister and cut it off at the factory join.
You then cut 6mm above the stock hole and keep the piece below the cut.
Then weld it onto where you cut the canister off. |
 |
Once you have done that you simply cut two triangles out of
the front of it and slop the front rear wards as shown. This gives a front
which is more likely to scrap over obstacles than get stuck. You should
put the shocky on to test this just to make sure that you don't go to far
and fowl the base of it on the new canister. |
